Several months ago, thanks to the warning of a very kind fellow deviant, I discovered that
Eevee's Food Pyramid had popped up on Tumblr without being properly sourced. The blogger did source the drawing once I asked, but it was reblogged and reposted thousands of times before proper credit was given. I was furious, but at least people seemed to enjoy it.
Flash forward to today and I discovered that the picture has appeared on numerous websites only to be liked, pinned, forwarded, etc. thousands of times, again, without credit. To the few websites and posters that did give credit, thank you. I appreciate that you took the time to source. But as for the websites where my work has been dissected, hated and loved without my knowledge, I'm not sure how I feel. I'm responsible for posting a public drawing, however, it's taken on a life of its own that's scary. I thought I could keep track of my work, but it's so easy for others to claim it as their own and manipulate it for their own gain. I'd definitely rather have 10 views here on DeviantArt than 100,000 for an unsourced piece on Tumblr, Cheezburger or FunnyJunk.
